Buying commercial grade lights new « on: October 31, 2024, 09:47:02 PM » Author: Cole D.
I remember one time I called GE Currents (back when they still made the GE Powr/Brackets or just as discontinued). I asked them if they had any GE Powr/Brackets left and the woman that answered said they didn’t sell to the public and asked if I could find something at Home Depot or Lowe’s that would work.

I noticed it’s been difficult to buy commercial grade streetlights. I used to buy a few on eBay but now they’re getting less common to find there and more expensive. I bought me AEL 115 FCO for $60 shipped and now they’ve gone up.

I think the only place you could get new street lights or other commercial grade lights is at an electrical distributor like Graybar.

That’s true, I know in Canada there was a store that sold commercial grade fixtures, like Westinghouse cobra head and maybe another. It might’ve been Canadian Tire.

Plus ACE Hardware still sells the Cooper Caretaker in some stores, or you can order it from them online. That’s the only one I’m aware of you can get nowadays from a consumer store.

Can you ask a local company that does both professional and consumer installation work, to order one for you? They'll slap on a provision or margin, but at least you can try and get them that way.
