SOX/ low pressure sodium lamp In a microwave « on: August 28, 2024, 10:20:14 AM » Author: Streetlightsandlamps
Here is a video of someone putting a SOX lamp in a microwave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1QpfyO0zx0
It is a fun video to watch, but these SOX lamps are getting rare, it looks like a osram or GE bulb. It is a waste of a rare bulb. :sox35:

I don't know why the outer bulb broke, but the tube still intact?
And if he has done this with a good lamp, this isn't good.

Fortunately, the lamps were still in production at the time the video was released since this video dates from 2016.

He shouldn’t be doing that to SOX lamps. He could’ve given that one to a collector, instead of microwaving it. It is such a waste and those lamps look like very rare ones.

It's an old video from 2016: I suppose the SOX lamps were in reasonable supply back then, but then they were always meant for industrial use.

Yeah, they weren’t as hard to find in 2016.

It's an interesting video nonetheless, think of how many of these lamps were made, and think of all of the ones which have been recycled whilst still in their useful life. Not such a massive deal, especially since it made this interesting video. Just wish that he used a cheaper modern sox lamp.
