Energy saving? « on: August 26, 2010, 01:22:33 PM » Author: Roi_hartmann
There was link to article why lamp ban is wrong in the Gallery of lights forum and that made me thinking about energy saving(in generally, not just lighting) and that way reduce of emissions. now I would like to know, do you believe global warming or any other environmental disaster that could happen due to excessive pollution? also, do you try to reduce your own energy usage anyway for any other reason than that electricity is expensive.

I myself am not sure about global warming etc. there is so much this yes/no discussion everywhere that is really hard to find any hard facts about that thing(if there even yet exist any facts) But I think global warming could be real thing, the question is just when things get out of our hands and its actually happening clearly.

Im not as environmental friendly person as I would like to be(im meaning not just a saving electricity or walking/cycle short trips more often than driving car) but being environmental friendly is not easy (at least not to me). maybe when you done it long enought you get used to it and automaticly keep doing it.

this doesn really related lighting at all. I hope this topic doesnt annoy you :-[

Hi There,

I believe global warming is happening, science has proven it. What I don't believe is that banning light bulbs is going to solve the problem. They're banning bulbs because it's easy rather than tackling real problems and big causes of global warming.

You've covered the obvious, the energy cost.
Electricity isn't like gas in your car, but its more like the road.  While there may not be a "shortage" of electrical energy, when everyone tries to use electricity at the same time, you'll have a traffic jam with the transmission resources being the constraints.

There's a Sylvania PowerShed that can be interfaced with the internet and the power company can send message when grid load is high and the lighting will step dim to reduce load on the line upon utility's request.

Even if there is global warming, it's certainly not caused by man like those stupid green groups try to claim.

The way I see it is it would be easier to deal with the climate change than to change our whole energy infrastructure.
