Any interest in Philips SRM's (long version)? « on: July 22, 2024, 03:23:24 PM » Author: exexcollega
After moving house I decided I need to scale down a bit, to much hobbies taking space..
So I have in total 4 long Philips SRM's. I would like to sell 2 of them, maybe 3. One I am actually using right now.
There is interest from a member at the other side of the Atlantic, but be aware of the insane shipping cost.
Just let me know.

How well would a 55 watt low pressure sodium lamp fit in one of these? And can it hold the gear as well? Or are these primarily made for fluorescent lamps?

Two of them will fit, they look really tiny inside. I'm not sure if you can move the lampholder forward because there is plenty space left with 2x55 or 36 watt.
They weren't made for fluorescent lamps and 120 cm fluorescents are too long but PL lamps are equal in length to LPS so that should be possible.

Yes it's insane. A couple of hundreds of euro's unfortunately. That was with UPS. My preferred parcel service didn't even give the option. The length above 1 metre makes it expensive.

Darn. They're quite nice looking lights and I wouldn't mind a project but I can't afford that kind of shipping cost right now. Maybe in a year or so when I have stable employment again... Hopefully...

A dual 55 watt LPS fixture would be an interesting project. Or an LPS/fluorescent combo. Alot of possibilities here. I'm not sure if it could handle the heat but if it could I would try a clear mercury + LPS combo. Would cast a strange interesting light

Hello, is the lantern 135W or 180W? Because I live in London and I do not think the postage costs are as high as delivering to Asia, Oceania, or the Americas.

Is it okay for me to chase up on my interest in a spare Philips SRM? If you still have the spare lantern, I am interested to getting one. I hope I am not being too pushy. If you do not have a spare SRM any more, then at least let us know here, and then I understand.
