In our job at work, (site maintenance), we have to do a ladder course each year!, (seriously)! , and guess what the first rule is of a ladder course?…… ……don’t use a ladder, their dangerous! You couldn’t make it up!

Ahh ! Ladder training !! I remember that CRAP !! If someone needs to be taught how to safely use a ladder then they shouldn't be on the ladder anyways ! Our Safety Morons (We call them the "Safety (...)") took razor blades away form us as "Someone could get injured " In their place , we were given plastic razor blades ! WELL, those lasted for a bit over a month before the Safety Morons were inundated with complaints from managers that their employees couldn't get their jobs done since the plastic blades were completely USELESS for their required purpose ! We were given back normal blades shortly after.
@ Rommie : There are some municipalities in the US who will ticket drivers for not having lit brake lights when stopped on the road ! I personally received a verbal warning for not having my foot on the brake at a traffic light . The cop told me that if I get hit and the other driver could prove I didn't have lit brake lights , I'd be cited for the accident !!
@ Sammi : The pedestrian thing that irratates me is when a turn arrow comes on at the same time the pedestrian signal signals pedestrians to walk !! One car MIGHT get to turn before the damned arrow goes away !!

@ Tim: You keep your foot on the brake pedal only until somebody stops behind you then you take your foot off the pedal and apply the handbrake. It's far safer to stand on a chair than use a ladder. Or if you need that extra bit of height pull a table over and put the chair on top of that...

@ Tim - she wasn't taught to drive by Bob Newhart, was she..? Seriously, that's ridiculous, so dazzling following drivers at night is a legal requirement, is it..? Glad I don't live there

In some places , YES . I remember being taught in driver's ed to always keep your foot on the brake in stopped traffic or while stopped at stop lights/intersections . As for my sister , she wasn't the greatest driver back then !

Well that's crazy. As I said, here it's the rule that you keep your foot on the brake until someone comes up behind you, then you put the handbrake on and take your foot off the pedal so you don't dazzle them, especially at night. The trouble is, not many people do it, I don't know how they're taught any more, but it's how I've always done it and I've had my licence for 41 years this month.

I personally hate HID & LED headlights... pretty much every vehicle I've seen them is a glarebomb on wheels. They should be banned & go back to good old incandescent. I've also seen a couple with LED headlights that flicker like a set of half-wave LED Christmas lights. (bad enough they do that crap on taillights, but having a flickerbomb behind you even in daylight is annoying) All exterior lighting on a vehicle should be required to run on pure DC so there's zero flicker.

All exterior lighting on a vehicle should be required to run on pure DC so there's zero flicker.
I get that it can be a cheap way to control brightness of the chip. I wonder if the chips themselves are harmed with a sloppy or poorly rectified waveforms. Those flickering LED brake lights are especially rough to be around. Sometimes brake lights seem to be the equivalent brightness of rear fog lights on some euro cars.

The flickery LED headlights are a common occurence on cars with daytime running lights . It's caused by the vehicles electrical system as most of the factory DRL systems do not always run at full voltage . The sub 12v supply usually causes the flicker . Plus , on newer vehicles , Flickering is caused by the Canbus electrical system. It pulses the power to the headlights to increase bulb life (for halogen bulbs). They stay energized just long enough so you never see the flicker. LED's can turn on and off so fast that you can usually see the flicker. Most automotive LED makers sell a module that goes inline between the factory harness and the LED to eliminate the problem .

I can't say I've ever found brake lights to be all that dazzling. The only ones that I've found that were dazzling were aftermarket LED replacement housings that had arrays of red LEDs and no concern for how bright they actually were, or their light spread. Some of those also tend to be "super bright" when on their tail/running brightness, and not really that much brighter when braking, so the only way to tell if they are braking is if the 3rd brake light is on (if there is one and it's working).
