Here’s something different. Since there’s been a surge in the number of listings for GE 201-SAs and AEL Series 11s lately (the completing companies’ NEMA head offerings), I’m curious to know your opinions on them. Heck why not compare the Cooper RMA. Which do you think is better? Personally I prefer GE because I collect their stuff.

I don’t have much of an opinion of one over the other. I tend to like the vintage mercury versions from all brands best from a collecting standpoint because they seem well made. I have a 2007 HPS AEL Series 11 that seems flimsy to me but I think by then they all kind of were.

But I still like all NEMAs even newer HPS ones because those are very nostalgic for me seeing them as a kid before led took over and still see some around in use.

The GE ones weren’t used as much in my area, mainly it was Cooper Series 11 and some AEL. Except downtown where they used GE 101SA in older parts.

All I have is an HPS Cooper RMA from around 2015 or so and it'd only be a fair comparison if I also had a 201-SA and a Series 11 to compare it with.

The big-name brand NEMAs aren't used here and I haven't seen all three so I won't say whether they are good or bad.

My utility, Ohop Mutual, used Series 11s and RMAs in both MV and HPS before they were all replaced by Evluma AreaMax LED area lights in 2016. All of them held up very well. I only knew of one MV 201-SA and it was left for dead.

As for the other utilities, GE Powr/Brackets and AEL Series 165s were used, with the former being the gold standard. Since there are so many Powr/Brackets around here, a good number of them haven't been serviced in years. I know of two that have been left inoperative for at least 15 years.

Yeah my local utility mostly used HPS series 11 with a few 201SA in rare places, then went to the Evlumas as well.

Back years ago they used GE 400W MV Powr/Brackets and then AEL 165 in HPS.

There is still one MV NEMA rental still left in my neighborhood, not sure the brand.
