Hi Does anyone know what make & year this SOX lantern is & is it a 55W? this was pictured in a former petrol station in Roker Avenue in Sunderland kind regards Bob

It looks a bit like a Philips MI80. I may be wrong though, so if anyone knows better please feel free to correct me.

Hi Ria you could be right after looking at your link and Even in the 70s when it was a petrol station & car showroom I have never seen it lit . Is it worth trying to save it kind regards Bob

If you can get it, sure. We have asked the owners of the building where the one in my gallery is located, but they never came back to us, we haven't really got space for it anyway

Sunderland? Where's that? It looks very much like the Canadian Golfinger II, but a view of the top would clinch it. These were made by Philips in Canada (my avatar) up until about 1994.

Hi Lights Plus Sunderland is North East of the UK and this Lantern has been there since the 1970s and as far I can remember I have never seen it lit Evan when it was a petrol station. Philips must have had a great production run for these to have been made till the 1990s  kind regards Bob

That looks great I have posted on the wanted section for a Gamma 6 to trade foe a Philips MĮ1 GT 18W SOX lantern as I am going to exhibit my stationary engine with a 240V generator powering some light and a Gamma 6 would look great on the rally field kind regards Bob

We do have another Gamma 6 called Gary but both of them are happy here with us. 

We do have a Beta 5 in the bedroom that comes on in time for us to wake up...

They look great lit indoors great you have names for them as well  a shame there is very little SOX Lamps left there is two under a bridge before you approach the A1 next to the Blaydon turn off and they have been day burning for years and there location would be a road closure that is why there have not been replaced kind regards Bob
