I've noticed that electronic HID ballasts, humming louder with HPS lamps than with QMH and CMH lamps. Why this is happening?

My guess: MH tend to operate at higher arc voltages than HPS. Because electronic ballasts tend to maintain the power, higher voltage means lower currents in the output stage, so less vibration in the output filtering inductor.

If I would buy an Osram NAV-TS 70W Super 4Y and run it on my Philips HID-PrimaVision PV C 70 /S CDM electronic HID ballast in my tracklight, there is a chance that I would short the ballast life?
