PREHEAT Heaven! Enertron Co! « on: February 11, 2010, 11:43:11 AM » Author: DieselNut
Thought some of yall who are like me and like compact fluorescents, yet are sick of the cheap chinese throw away "twister" things might like this company.  I have one of their 13 watt "PL" type adapters and it has worked well for YEARS, in daily several hour use in a table lamp.  Well made and made in USA!  They have lots of fixtures and just about everything they offer is also available magnetic preheat.

Thanks for the post Dieselnut! I have found this site before and have about six of their adapters that I have either ordered or found at thrift stores.

I've also been seriously considering buying some adapters from Enertron (or eBay, or somewhere). The specs look good; made in USA, preheat magnetic, and so on sounds good to me! I'm still partial to incandescent, but I need to reduce the number of incandescent lamps I use because of the coming ban. I've stocked up on incandescents, but I can't save up enough to run all of my incandescent lights forever!

For the folks here who use PL lamps, what color do you prefer? How close to incandescent are the 2700K's?

Thanks,
Nelson

@nogden, the 2700K is closest to incandescent.  3000K is close also.  My favorite color temperature is 6500K daylight.  The beauty of fluorescents is the variety of colors available!

Does anyone know what lamp base the 13 watt quad adapter takes? I just purchased two 13 watt adapters (model 3800) off eBay but I'm not sure what lamp to buy. I assume it takes a two pin lamp, but I see a GX23-2 base and G24D-1 base and I'm not sure which one to buy.

nogden, the 13 watt lamps, both "Biax" and "quad" have the GX-23 2 pin base.

What's up with the 22 watt PL lamps? I was thinking about buying a 22W Enertron adapter, but 22 watt tubes are expensive and hard to find. I also can't find 3000K which I want. Are 22 watt fixtures that unusual?

Also, Enertron says that the 9 and 13 watt adapters will start tubes down to 20 deg. F., but the 22 watt tubes will start at -26 degrees! Why is that? Do 22 watt tubes have electronic starters?

I have never seen the 22 watt lamps.  I have a lot of (2 pin preheat) 26 watt lamps I need to find some fittings for.

I found this adapter on eBay a while ago. It says it works with 22-28 watt tubes. That seems odd, but assuming that is correct, it should run your 26 watt tubes! I really have no idea what it is supposed to run. If you find out, let me know!
