Revised Member Rankings « on: November 07, 2021, 05:08:06 PM » Author: Rommie
We have revised the member ranking system on Lighting Gallery. There has been some contention amongst members in the past over the various ranks such as Newbie, Full Member, Hero Member etc. being based purely on post counts.

This is a core function of the forum software, so radical changes are difficult. However, we have come up with the following system, which we hope will address many of the concerns.

There are now simply two main "ranks" of Newbie and Member. Post counts will be taken into consideration when the associated bulb icons are assigned, but there are no different categories of membership any more.

The icons assigned are now as follows - any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact one of us.

I noticed that ... only because various members now have the MV BLB icons.

Sorry, I need a minimum of a 22in screen to see anything, I couldn't imagine using a tiny little mobile thing, so I didn't give it any thought  :-\

I don't know whether it can be made to display on those, that would be Patrick's department.

Yeah I was wonder why the bulb icons changed suddenly. To be honest, I never really liked the default names for the user categories so this is a improvement.

There are some features of LG that seem to be desktop exclusive. Profile pictures, user signatures, and the more detailed file information on the gallery to name a few.

Don't forget that the software and the site were never originally intended for use with tiny mobile screens. It's possible to adapt some things, but not everything.

Personally (and this is a personal not an admin viewpoint) I can't help feeling that the proliferation of mobile devices is at least in part responsible for the decline in picture quality, but that's a separate issue.

I’m on iPhone XR, and I’ve always been able to see the bulb icons?, LG works perfectly on iPhone, exactly the same as it did on my laptop?, can’t say I’ve noticed any changes?
