 I figured it was but the smart a** in me couldn't help but to come out !      And I agree with Ria ,  if I was given no choice in what lamps I could or couldn't use I'd more than likely hate LEDs a lot more than I do !

Yeah pretty much California banned almost everything non-LED. However most of the halogens that were sold here in their final days I wasn’t impressed with. But I do agree on having more options if desired.

Speaking of getting stuff from other states, recently I had to buy banned lawn sprinklers from out of state due to CA regulations.

I like some led too but hate most of them, especially street lights and high mast lighting. I'm ok with buying the ones with 16 million color where I can change color and brightness via WiFi/bluetooth connection. If I were given one option to save a lamp, option 1 being 10 Philips HUE inside a box，option B is one piece of 90w NOS fabricated in 1984, I'll take the without hesitation. No regrets bro

Personally, the LED lamps that I prefer using are plug and play LED retrofit lamps for HID and preheat fluorescent fixtures because they are designed to be used in traditional fixtures without having to modify the wiring to such a degree that I can easily change back to traditional light sources if I wanted to. I also enjoy the same with ballast bypass LED retrofit lamps such as the lED corn cob lamps because I can change the lamp back to HID if I wanted to. Personally, the only types of LED lighting that I really dislike are integrated LED fixtures and LED retrofit modules that have integrated LEDs inside them, and ballast bypass LED lamps that do not use a screw base or bayonet base.

Integrated units are alright when they work!, I’ve just fitted 31 integrated units whilst doing an upgrade on our valet bay canteen, 2 did indeed fail out of the box, however there’s a 5 year warranty on them, and our wholesale says they have to honour this, and will replace dead units without question within that 5 years!
That’s not bad, (although a pain in the ****), to keep taking them back!, but usually I do prefer a ‘lamp and fitting’ set up personally, but I’m keeping a record of how many will fail now in those next 5 years.

I do like LED as well but what I don’t like is how these are being pushed and praised on the market to be the best solution ever invented and everything which is non LED is being very terribly bad for the environment, health and safety.

I’m glad that in general all utility companies here are using rather well built LED street lights and I’m also satisfied that I finally found the proper plug- in LEDs for our older streetlights.

Whether in intergrated form, or in GU10 and MR16 their all still industry standard 50mm multifaceted reflector units, even if that particular model gets discontinued, the new version will still be a 50mm multifaceted reflector light source, whatever name brand is on it, you will always be able to get them.

Agreed, but if the trim looks significantly different, the replacement will stand out. 

But again, the trim size is also standard to fit the 50mm, whether it’s white, chrome, gold or other colours, however, I agree in a house where you would normally have just 4 to 6 downlighting, a unit that’s not exactly matched would indeed stand out?
In commercial premises where large numbers are in use, to the average worker sitting in their canteen, they probably wouldn’t notice ( or even care ), about the lighting!

There’s 3 different models of six foot twin LED battens in our main workshop, but there’s usually only me that can point them out!

That was Tim's problem, as I recall. He had three downlighters outside his front door, on the porch, or wherever it was. One failed, so he went to the store to get another and was told it was no longer available, and the only similar one looked totally different.

It's like re-lamping with different colour temperature lamps; the one that's different stands out a mile; it is noticeable, and would annoy the hell out of me

I like LEDs too. Just hate the integrated and the cheap stuff. I'm getting used to the LED street lights and starting to like them.

I'll never like the L*D street lights, apart from the fact they were forced on us with no consultation, I just can't see properly because of the colour temperature used  .

They have not considered that people, like me, who suffer from night blindness are really affected by it. 

LEDs for the most part do not interest me, except for RGB ones. When it comes to fixtures I support LED fixtures that are serviceable. If it takes standard screw base LEDs and doesn't need to be thrown away at EOL its all good with me.

My integrated LED failures in my front porch lights did irritate me ! The first one died a little over a year after installing it . When I went to get a replacement , the new ones looked NOTHING like the old . The old looked like MR-16 spot lamps in gimbal trim whereas the new were just a round panel in a totally different design gimbal trim .
