The title says it all. I just hope that I won't be criticized for liking them.

IMO, no, you are entitled to like what you like, and if you like LEDs, then that's fine. I tend to find myself liking those older style LED bulbs with the big heatsinks as their body, as the designs tended to be more diverse and rugged, versus now where everyone uses the same snowcone design with paper thin heatsink covered in plastic.

I think liking LEDs is totally fine. I think the evolution of household LEDs, such as the early Philips products is interesting in a sense, especially since it’s now been almost a decade since the first practical 60 watt equivalent LEDs was introduced. We went from what looked like bug lights to something that looks almost like a incandescent lamp.

Welcome across to the dark side brother !, as I read this in the kitchen, I look up at my 10 watt 4000K GE Bright Stik’s , bathing the kitchen in their cool white glow, and it reminds me why I like LED! Their not all bad, just the ring ding ones you buy off the likes of flea bay!

Welcome across to the dark side !
I hope you don't mean me To be serious, we probably wouldn't loathe them so much if we had been given a choice. But someone somewhere said "You WILL use LED's" and banned manufacture of practically everything else, that's what's so annoying, do you understand..? I refuse to be forced to use anything I just wish we could do something about the apologies for street lighting they use around here

@SOX35: I somewhat feel the same way, as California has pretty much banned all Incandescent and Halogen lamps (except for specialty lamps). So now I either have to get lucky and find a bunch at a thrift store, buy them off eBay, or smuggle them in from another State.

Thanks, everyone. I had always liked LED, a little less so now than I used to.

Yeah while I do prefer conventional light sources. LEDs do have their uses. The only LEDs I truely dislike are the cheapo generic ones (lamps and luminaires) that seem to fail if you look at them wrong. Worst for the luminaires that aren't repairable.
The LED bulbs from the early 2010s were rather interesting like the Philips remote phosphor series and the Cree filament tower bulbs. Over here it seems incandescent, halogen, and even CFLs are still available if you look hard enough but in reduced selection compared to when they were at their height. While it's sad to see them go, at least they were not outright banned.

HID, LPS, and preheat fluorescents forever!!!!!!
|
Personally, the LED lamps that I prefer using are plug and play LED retrofit lamps for HID and preheat fluorescent fixtures because they are designed to be used in traditional fixtures without having to modify the wiring to such a degree that I can easily change back to traditional light sources if I wanted to. I also enjoy the same with ballast bypass LED retrofit lamps such as the lED corn cob lamps because I can change the lamp back to HID if I wanted to. Personally, the only types of LED lighting that I really dislike are integrated LED fixtures and LED retrofit modules that have integrated LEDs inside them, and ballast bypass LED lamps that do not use a screw base or bayonet base.

It's a lowercase "L". It was just a typo.
