I need a start capacitor for a ceiling fan I found new in the box in my collapsing shed. I can get it to go if I spin it by hand but it won't go on its own. The capacitor is 4uf.

I guess in a fan it would be a motor run capacitor (connected all the time), not just start (disconnected once the motor starts). Look for electronic component distributors like RS or Newark or so, "motor run capacitor 4uF xxxV"

It has a red wire and a white wire. That's the one I need. I will get a picture soon for you. It's from a 1998 Harbor Breeze Armitage ceiling fan I found as new old stock in my shed.

Dug through my parts and found a similar 4.75 uf one, seems to be the same size and it measured on my meter as 4.6uf. I have two of these guys.
