A note about the smilies. « on: January 02, 2021, 12:34:11 AM » Author: Lightingguy1994
Greetings all. Seeing as I've been away for a couple days, I figured I should fill everyone in about the new smilies and why they have been changed around lately.

First, a few months back, I put up the new icons in our test section as a test to see how they looked. It wasn't mean't to be final but gave us a good idea how they fit and such seeing as they were larger. We admins were supposed to discuss them and all, but we all have lives and it fell to the wayside. After some time had passed, Patrick assumed all the admins were okay with it and that it was ready, so they were scuttled onto the main site.

In the test, I also put in my version of the  @-@ icon, (now reverted back) which matched the rest to the T. I didn't think much of it at the time, but once it went live with the rest, I had soon been informed that it was far too similar to the current version that was already up and it caused a likely permanent rift between me and its author. Although in my defence - you can only do so much with the tiny amount of pixels when making crazy eyes, I can certainly see how it was very close after being made aware and for that I apologies to the Author. Another Author was also upset about the switch out of their icons. I apologize to that Author as well.

Once the icons were scuttled on here by Patrick and the issues were brought to light, the smilies were reverted back to former set and shortly after that, homebrewlamps set out to make it right by mixing the old and new. He didn't need to put the new ones back but I support his idea as he felt strongly it was the best.

So to be clear, I only made the original change on the test area, I didn't directly set anything here and I had been largely offline during most of this. It is the other admins who had made the fixes and they should be credited for their efforts to right the situation.

With all that said, I hope the membership is happy with our new 'remix' of icons, which I fully support and I'm happy with. The change out was not supposed to carryout in such a rough manner. It will not repeat again either. To anyone out here that may have an issue with me from this or any other problem, it must be noted that members are unable to block admins.. so any issues one may have with one of us should be discussed. We are here to help and keep the site happy. We aren't perfect, and mistakes happen. For my mistakes, I accept responsibility and send my apologies. I look forward to moving on.

Heres to 2021 and many more!

There's been quite a bit of discussion amongst the admins over this, fortunately it seems to have all worked out for the best.

There's no reason for anyone to be upset or angry, we're all here for the same reason, to enjoy our lights, so let's lay any issues to  rest.

Take care,
