I need YOUR help « on: November 19, 2020, 07:30:00 PM » Author: Bulbman256
Hello kind people, i was recently burned by the hand of eBay and got shipped Phillips 100w mv flood lamps instead of the /n ones i ordered. My mom wants me to find a datasheet or other manufacture paper explain the difference between the two so i can use that as evidence to try to get a refund or the right lamps. Any help would be appreciated! :D

I can try to help find a data sheet for you. I was about to buy some of those /N lamps, so I’m glad I saw that it was a scam!  :o

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.

I don't think it was a scam, i think the seller just did not know the difference so i want to get some info to help explain it. But thank you for looking.

I don't know about a spec sheet.  There is a style tone ad on eBay.

I agree it probably wasn't a scam.  The case in question was for 12 lamps yet the seller has already sold 14 and has 10+ more.  They almost certainly have multiple cases.  Some were likely /N while others were /DX.

I think the ad that Patrick sent should be sufficient evidence that there is a difference between DX and N lamps.

I cannot find a data sheet for these specific lamps in /N. I understand now that it probably was not a scam, because I didn’t realize that the seller sold 14 lamps already. So, if for example they had 24 lamps available in the beginning, they could have simply had a case of /N and a case of /DX and they got mixed.

Just notify the seller of the mistake and see if he has anymore /Ns.

Here's some documents that might be of help:

1991 Philips Lamp Catalogue MV listing on page 88.

1985 Philips Westinghouse Lamp Catalogue MV listing on page 53.

1975 Westinghouse Style Tone Bulletin

The catalogues should help explain the lamp colour suffixes and the style tone bulletin should explain what a Style Tone lamp is compared to deluxe white.
Most likely what happened is the seller though all the lamps were the same and didn't double check the catalogue number on each case.
