We are all free to do as we please.
The markets are free to sell as they please.
I wouldn't concern myself about other's hoarding. I do agree that people do hoard stuff that I'd like, but they beat me to it. No one owes us anything, not even courtesy.
I may have "hoarded" some Christmas bulbs and traffic signals as I am finding that the stuff I've collected over the last few years has become increasingly rare. I have a TON of NOS USA made Christmas lamps and sets that were fairly common on eBay 5 years ago but almost never come up anymore. I have some very rare traffic signals that were easy to acquire 15 years ago that are now uber rare (and expensive) also.
However, if I live at least a few more decades I should be able to consume all of the stuff I have bought as I actually use everything I have collected.
Actually, what makes more more upset are people who don't actually use the items they've collected. THEY SHOULD USE THEM. These things don't last forever! Recently I saw someone posted that the GE Halarc Maxi-Miser thingy that seems worth several hundred $$ has a tendency to fail in storage. What point is it to keep something unused in it's original packaging and NEVER use it? Seals break down, envelopes leak air, paint flakes off, capacitors dry out. Use the darn stuff you collect, people! No one is going to "high-five" you after you are dead for keeping that stuff NOS so they may collect it. What do you care when you are dead? 50% chance your old stuff gets thrown away!
