My grandma got her streetlights changed, for LED « on: November 01, 2020, 12:56:06 PM » Author: Cole D.
We went to visit my grandmother today, and I noticed the streetlight on the corner near her house had been changed to an LED. Later I also noticed her neighbor across street and other next door had LED rental yard light installed and when I pointed it out, she said they had, and it was really bright out now at night.

She said she liked the LED lights, so she called someone at the power company and said she wanted the that street light nearby her house as well as the next one down changed out for the same LED lights the neighbors have in their yards. So they said they'd write up an order and do it and they came by only about an hour later and got it taken care of. So she said that's why there an LED street light there now.

So anyway, she got them to change the HPS street lights to LED, which I thought was surprising, since usually they only change them if the bulb goes bad.

I can't tell what brand the LED are, but they aren't those Cooper Caretakers, like I had seen PEC using, these have more cobra shape. I'll try to get a picture, next time I visit, hopefully later this month. As well as the ones in the two yards nearby.

The old streetlights were GE M250R2 and they are on guy wired arms. And the one in the yard next door had an HPS NEMA that had lost its bucket, but when the house sold recently, is when that got changed to the LED.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.
