Anyone interest in Ghost Towns? « on: April 08, 2018, 10:03:16 AM » Author: Cole D.
I find Ghost Towns fascinating as well as local history. I found a website that shows the Ghost Towns and locations in my area. It was surprising to see that places that seem to be in the middle of nowhere used to be bustling communities when resources were plentiful for logging and harvesting, etc. Now there's not much left so you would never know it. Plus near where I live is technically considered a ghost town because it was once a community with its own name however lots of people live around here so I can't say it truly is.

Although if I look up the weather for my zip code it shows the original name for the area rather than the city I live in.

I can't find any ghost towns in my area. The only ghost area is a site attraction and I don't like site attractions
I like abanded places and maybe I should get out of Aspen and drive elsewhere is summer

Anything disused or abandoned is my specialty, I have 20 buildings I know of and counting, (I'm having to expand farther and farther outward at this point though), I've not been to any ghost town yet.

Aspen itself was once a Ghost town.  Lots of Ghost towns in Colorado because of the mining that took place.  Some of them came back to life such as Cripple Creek and Black Hawk, thanks to gambling/casinos.

There's a road near my house that's the same as a ghost town I heard about but I'm not sure if it's in the same area or not.

The ghost towns I've seen, don't have much left. Mostly just people living here and there with some old houses here and there that were from when it was a community before. And some you can still see the old roads and barns covered in vines and trees. Like time grew over them.
