Which restaurants in your area have the best or worst lighting?
As far as fast food lighting, I like one Dairy Queen best. It has warm color recessed lights and sconces, no troffers in the dining area, and I think that makes it feel nicer. It does have a few halogen wall washer recessed lights that always seem to burn out though. The other DQ, the old one has horrible lighting. It has fluorescent troffers, and there don't seem to be enough, because the one or two times I've been at night it feels so dark in there, and just dreary and dim. Behind the counter they have those square recessed lights from the 70s and they are quite dim as well.
Another restaurant that is poorly lit is Wendy's. My Wendy's has those troffers with the square grid louvers. It used to have the incandescent pendants over the tables, but as part of the "remodel" they did, which only included painting the wallpaper, they also removed the pendants. I ate in there one night, and it too was awful. I felt like I was on a dark NY subway or something, felt cold and dreary and I just wanted to get done and get out of there.
However, another Wendy's has those style troffers but when it was remodeled (which was a real remodel and more upscale) they added some nice glass pendants as well that give a very warm atmosphere. One time we went at night, and the troffers were all turned off for some reason and just the pendants were on. That gave a really nice, inviting look, almost like a fancy restaurant would have, at night.
