Well, I witnessed what is probably a tragic site for many lighting enthusiasts.

The local post office had tons of LPS lights on the outside. 18w SOX wallpacks mounted on the canopy, large LPS fluorescent-like lights around the loading bays (think they were 135w) and then several LPS NEMAs.

Well, today I went by it and immediately saw that there was not a single LPS light left. EVERYTHING had been replaced with LEDs! The loading bay LPS lights had been replaced with pathetic little LED canopy lights, the 18w ceiling mounted wallpacks had been replaced with LED wallpacks that looked like the ones they sell at Menards, and the LPS NEMA lights got replaced with those LED yardblasters they sell at Fleet Farm. I checked the dumpster and... not a single light was in there.   I have no idea what happened to them but there is no doubt they just threw them out. Maybe they will turn up at restore sometime but I doubt it. I would have tried to save them if I knew what was going to happen. Ugh.

Well, talk to the manager there, maybe he will know where it went.
It is very likely they are still sitting somewhere in their storage waiting to be send for recycling, so he may give you some...

  that's too bad. If ya can, save as many ballasts and sockets and lamps as you can, they're the most expensive.

Easiest way to do that is to save the entire fixtures.

Or, if your cramped for space the gutting is the best option. Or you could make your own business and sell them to here. I'll give ya tree fiddy.

Because it's a post office, more than likely a contractor did the retrofits and took the old stuff with them and disposed of them themselves.  They are history. 

A lot of lights removed go straight to certified recyclers, sadly. Especially if a subsidy was paid to replace these with something more efficient.
