If we limit it to the question if the LED based light is more or less dangerous than other sources, the article is fully correct by stating "it is the same".
The only danger I see, it likes to promote the legislation to force the transition to the LED's. This legislation is, what in fact prevents all the other efforts to lessen the harm people cause to the environment just because it pumps out the budget people are willing to pay "for the environment" with highly questionable effect (e.g. rarely used lights).
And another problem is the
Jevons paradox, but that is related to all high efficacy sources and mainly peoples behavior. And it is the way, how the efficiency laws are imposed, what make the conditions for that to happen extremely strong with lighting (there is virtually no upper limit for light use).
But these dangers are again common for all high efficacy and easy to use light sources...
