Are 100W and 85W 8 foot lamps interchangeable?  We received this question by e-mail, but I do not know the answer myself.  Thanks!

And what will happen if one o those is used on the wrong ballast ? If only underdriven lamp (ad no overcurrent in the ballast) it may be good enough for some purposes

Underdriving a fluorescent lamp, without a proper electrodes heating, may result in the lamp operates with cold cathodes and heavy sputtering.

This is in case of severe underpowering. Some light underpowering is not such issue

the 85W 8Ft will not light on a 100W ballast u will just kill the electrodes as it blinks awy the other way round and a 100W tube wont light on a 85W ballast cose there SRS or QS and all u will get is glowing ends
