Anyone else get an email from Brian (Mercury Man) that had a link to an advertisement?
It looked like this:

Dear Madam,

seansy59 : I didn't recived such an email.
If Brian, is one of your contacts in your email software or your online email account, probably your email account have been hacked by a cracker (Online email account or your internet provider email account) or a trojan/virus (Your internet provider email account only) and caused you to get spam from your contacts or with impersonations to your contacts. If this is the case, change the password of your email account and if needed, also your email address.
If other member will complain here, probably either Brian email account have been hacked, or this can be even related to the site.
You can send a PM to Brian about this.

I soetimes recieve spam on MSN from known contacts in my list. This is because they have a virus, which actually sends the spam through their account

I use windows mail, and I don't have him as a contact actually.  ???

It says it was sent to a few people. Don't want to post their emails in public though.

Its funny, I've never recieved any spam before, and I've had the email for about 5 yrs.

I do use it for my buisness, and when selling online, soooooo  ;D

I changed my password, not that its going to help. It was about 13 letters long.

But its weird it says it was "from" Brian with his email.

Most spamming malware work in the way:
- Generate the email text (it is usually variable in some extend, to make it more difficult to catch for the SPAM filters)
- Take random address from the infected computer addressbook and fill it in into the "from" field (this field is to be filled by the mail client, so it is trivial to fake it)
- Take another address and send the mail to this.

So in opposite to the first glance, the owner of the "from" and as well as the "to" email address have most likely the computer clean, as the malware is operating from someone else, who have both "from" and "to" in his addressbook.

The spamware may also be working off of a commercially available email address list.  It is easy to fake the 'from' email header so that the spam appears to be coming from somewhere other than the actual source.
