The incandescent ban in Israel is near, and incandescent lamps over 60W will be banned in 1.1.2012. However these aren't the only lamp that will be banned. Halogen lamps over 60W will also be banned, so people would have to forget about halogen floodlights. Why Israel bans also the halogens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The government don't know that the high wattage halogens uses special bases, which may cause their fixtures to become obsolete if they will be banned!?!?!?!?!?!? What is the more severe about the Israeli incandescent ban is the HALOGEN BAN. In most application (Aka floodlights with motion sensors and all halogen floodlights), the halogen lamp have no alternatives, and the ban will renders these floodlights obsolete. Edit: I also fearing that the SBMV will also be banned in Israel, as lighting and hardware stores don't marketing them anymore. Also, the storage of Carmel hospital, don't stock 160W SBMV lamps anymore.

No! All incandescents and halogens above 60W will be BANNED! Indeed, i have readed on another articles about the israeli incandescent ban, that Israel aren't ready for the ban to take place.

I don't know if this ban will affect halogen stage lighting. But it will indeed render the halogen floodlights with motion detectors obsolete, and the ones without motion detectors useless, as when fitting by a R7s CFL, this will lower the floodlight performance, while causes the floodlight to diffuse the light to all directions, because of the large size of the retrofit lamp, compared to the small size of the halogen lamp. A 150W or 70W MH floodlight costs much more, even if they are much more efficient, and have time for the lamp to reach full brightness and cool down before hot restriking.

@ dor what if you have a double light motion floodlight can you reconfiger to run low voltage 110 volt flood bulbs in series for 240 volts if low 110 voltage flood bulb available?

I think our government could do the following thing to reduce the usage of high wattage halogen lamps: Instead of banning halogen lamps over 60W, the halogen floodlights without the motion detectors and the halogen indirect fixtures (These fixtures that almost always connected to dimmers and pointing to the ceiling) for salons could be banned instead, this would allow to continue the use of high wattage halogen lamps only for motion detectors halogen floodlights, old slides projectors and halogen floodlights for stage lighting.
