I had one of these lamps in the past. I don't see a reason to stop using these lamps because of this. This isn't dangerous. Simply the SL-E Prismatics that manufactured between January 2000 to April 2001, have a bad gluing of the prismatic cover (My Philips SL-E Prismatic had a plastic cover) to the plastic mount, causing the cover to detach from the lamp. The lamp can be operated without problems and risks also without the cover (It will be then simply a tubular CFL with 3 U tubes).
