I was wondering if other people have a type of bulbs fixtures etc that is most nostalgic for them, and why. for me it might be early CFL bulbs, CFL fixtures, and early LED bulbs, they were very common when I was younger.

Sodium. Mercury. Incandescent and early CFL's (think utilitech with green etch and Meijer branded CFLs).
In that order.

Long live the HPS and SOX!

CFLs and HPS. I used to have mostly CFLs around the house when I was younger so those honestly feel even more nostalgic than incandescent for me. HPS because I saw it everywhere before LED took over, and it was always my favorite lamp type and what first actually got me into lighting.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it. I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

It is those slanted single tube fluorescent streetlights , along with coated mercury vapour lamps (clear was very rare). Not much HPS since it is still very common. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, clear incandescents , not in the setting most would think. Walking through a village at night with lonely dim incandescents always felt nostalgic.

CFLs. Any type. Next is linear fluorescents. Not incandescents, because we never really transitioned out of that era in this house.

MV and recently the halophosphate fluorescents - even when the CRI is not that great, it feels somewhat calming (speaking about the most common 4100K blend)...
