Using LG from my Linux terminal « on: June 05, 2024, 02:56:53 PM » Author: HIDLad001
With Lynx, the oldest web browser still in active development. This is probably the first time that LG has been accessed from a Linux terminal or any CLI at all.
Images don't work, but the basic text based forum does.

It is not. I was regularly accessing it from work linux machines about 10 years ago, until the workstations got retired and were replaced by remote sessions on servers accessed fro win notebooks.
The heck even few times from Sun Unix machine, in the early days of my presence here till the Suns were replaced by the Linux PCs... :-D
But using rather modern (for the time) Mozilla/Firefox browsers...

Of course :mrg:
Well when was the last time you did? Now I need to try it with some UNIX based system.

I understood it as generally from a Unix/Linux machine, I did not mean a text-only terminal, there you won, at least over me... :-D
We had KDE graphic UI (on both Sun, as well as the Linux PC later on).
But it was very long ago, don't remember how long I'm here, on the Sun it was just barely half dozen times, it matched the time when the workstations got replaced...

Anyway your post triggered good old memories in me... :-D

Yeah, I am definitely not the first person to use LG on Linux.

While I don't use it , I know that several current and former members use/used Linux exclusively .

Using Linux is definitely very different from using Windows or macOS. It can be a challenge (and annoying at times), but I think that it makes computing interesting (especially when you can endlessly customize it to your liking)
I do enjoy using Lynx, and I have been playing with it a lot recently because it actually works with most modern websites (albeit with the bare minimum of functionality).
(Typed from Lynx running in my Linux terminal)
