This video is about why LED street lights are bad.

I know the LED street lights in the UK are better, as they have a special cover over the LEDs that spreads the light onto the road, but LED is still bad.

"Better retrofitted than replaced!"

To me, it honestly depends on the LED lantern. The Axia 2s on my street are a reasonable brightness and have good light distribution all while minimising glare. The Magnas they installed in my cousin’s area on the other hand are overly bright and they’re absolute glarebombs.

Urbis axias are not bad LED lanterns. They are far better than the urbis ampera.
The ansell magnas are just LED lanterns that you can just buy. They are not great.

Most LED lanterns in the UK are not bad, it is just some of them are bad.

That’s very good that people are trying to force the removal of LED street lights. :)

To me, one of the things that I have really disliked about LED lighting has been the forced worldwide adoption of LED light sources being used to replace virtually all traditional general lighting sources that are NOT LED.

Yeah, that’s another thing that I hate about LED street lights. Soo many of the old and perfectly working street lights are all going to waste. :(

I have also been feeling that even though no countries that I know of have a complete sweeping ban on ALL NON-LED lighting currently in effect, I have been seeing that there appears to be so much pressure for all countries in the world to develop complete sweeping bans on ALL NON-LED lighting partially due to the inefficiencies of incandescent and halogen lamps and due to the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

So far, I have been seeing that the EU countries and Canada all appear to have proposals for complete sweeping bans on ALL NON-LED light sources.

Every country I know has most of their street lights LED. In the UK, most councils have changed all of their lights to LED. :(
In Surrey council, which is where I live, has changed all of their old street lights to DW windsor kirium eco LED lanterns with urban node radio nodes on them.

Led streetlights have too much glare and bad colour (6500k for us). Fluorescents had a much more softer light and HPS had a deeper colour.

Yeah, LED does have too much glare. Especially the ZETA lighting smartscape NANO as they have a weird refractor lens on them.

I much prefer the colour of SON/ SOX/ or fluorescent, or hps/ Lps or fluorescent. :)

@WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA - yup exactly, I'm not a fan of the bans that are coming now that the regulators deemed LED to be a good enough one size fits all solution instead of just letting the manufacturers decide when to discontinue traditional lighting products. Although I suppose not too many people still install HID luminaires now, especially since hardly anyone still makes the luminaires.

I don't recall hearing about any further incandescent bans in Canada so I suppose once all HID and fluorescent gets banned incandescent will still be available as a option. And I think HPS and linear fluorescents for replacement would be available until 2030 anyway.

Yeah, it’s sad that they are banning any type of light source. :(
At least they are going to sell the old lamps until 2030. :)

So far, I know that Japan still has HID, general service incandescent, and fluorescent still on the market, but have read that Japan has a fluorescent ban in 2027.
