Today I had magnetic resonance imaging of my knee (it takes about 20 minutes). I was half body out of the Siemens tunnel so I was looking at lights above me. Of course I couldn't take a picture because you can't have any metallic objects with you because of the strong magnetic field. The downlighters had something like 150W or maybe more like 200W linear halogen lamps in them. What was strange - I could look directly at the filament with absolutely no glare, seeing clearly the coil. The light from downlighters just above me had halogen colour as expected. The lights seen from an angle looked slightly bluish. I wonder what kind of glass it was? Despite the zero glare, the room was quite well lit. Maybe some kind of glass to reduce magnetic field effects? It's strongest inside the tunnel but must be quite strong also outside of it. But the visual effect was quite cool.
