Does anyone here know what kind of ballast or any substitute ballast(s) that would be able to run a 55W 2D lamp closest to it's original current (I'm in a 120V area). I'll upload a picture of the lamp soon and thanks in advance.

Look into the lamp catalogue and find the rated operating current.
Then browse trough other (more frequent used) lamp types with the same current (+/-15%) and similar wattage (+50/-30%) and note them down on a paper. Then search a ballast for one of these lamps...
For RS with voltage mode heater supply circuit you have to ensure the designed lamp voltage is similar (+/-30%), the current might have larger tolerance (-60%..+15%), as on RS is no danger of lamp operated on too low temperature electrodes (so sputter them off).

You might use even series/parallel tulamp ballasts, that might power this lamp. On "parallel" ensure, both sections of the selected ballast are identical and work in-phase (common inverter when electronic, same circuit on magnetic,...)

Thanks, I found this data sheet from GE on this lamp. If I'm reading this correctly, it says that lamp volts is 75V and running current is 0.700A. The data sheet also says a low loss 1500mm 58/65W can be used to operate this lamp. Do you know what North American ballasts or ballasts combination would give the close current to a 58/65/W choke? I have some F30T8 preheat ballasts lying around that maybe I could use.

If i remember well, F30T8 are 0.35A/80V lamps, so two such identical magnetic preheat ballasts in parallel might power this lamp. Only remain a question about power dissipation and internal fixture temperature (mentioned in the datasheet), but you might place ballasts somewhere else and keep only the starter with the lamp...

Thanks for the help Medved, I definitely try running it on two F30T8 ballasts as test, I'll maybe permanently install it once I find a proper lampholder for this. 

I have a Lights of America torchiere that takes 55W 2D and it has a built-in dimming ballast.  I knew from the beginning that this was an awkward lamp that is going to be difficult to find if it ever needs a replacement. 

Here are the specs for the 55W 2D lamp: 

740mA 98v 56W, line magnetic

700mA, 78v, 55W, HF electronic
