Very interesting to read. I like especially where it states that visual acuity is best at about 5550 angstroms and that the monochromatic light from the SO lamps is the closest possible at 5890 angstroms. Also, the last page of arguments for the use of SO lamps have been discussed at length on various posts here (and make sense).

Otherwise, it says that the French were reticent in adopting sodium vapour lighting on account that white light is more beautiful. Isn't it interesting that the reverse of this is now true with the implementation of newer lighting sources ?

People's observations and reactions to the acceptance of colors from the new light sources have probably always been similar. 

What might have been the acceptance when incandescent lamps were replaced by the first MV lamps without phosphors?  A terrible light (love it, but that's subjective). 

It will have been similar with the LPS lamps, I suspect.
