when you repaint fixtures what do you do first,primer,clearcoat,ect?

I just use a couple coats of good quality spray paint without priming.

I spray a light first coat, let it tack up.Then spray a second coat, with a back and forth motion to get good coverage,also avoid spraying too close to the fixture to avoid runs.
