Hello all,  I am a newbie with very little lighting knowledge. I live in a 1940's house and have a Mazda T-8 30W 3 foot tube I need to replace.  It would be nice if I could fine one that is close to authentic but if I can't find one, I would like to know what kind of current LED tube I could replace it with.

I would keep the old tube as part of my collection. As for a new authentuc tube, watch eBay.

There should be modern production tubes still made. F30T8 would be the modern ordering code for one. Add the suffix /CW for 4100K cool white (standard fluorescent colour), /WW for 2700-3000K warm white (the yellower looking fluorescent colour), and /D for 6500k daylight(the bluish fluorescent).


As for LED while I personally would keep it fluorescent but you probably could stick a 3ft direct wire LED tube into it. Just make sure you redo the connections. Fixtures from that era usually had fluorescent sockets with screw terminals so you could carefully unwire the sockets from the ballast and rewire for direct wire LED without cutting the ballast wires.

I agree with everyone here - That vintage Mazda F30T8 is highly collectible .

You can still get F30T8 fluorescent bulbs from You’re local lighting supplier ,

Or convert You’re fixture to Led - If You’re not interested in saving the old bulb You could always put it or have someone put it on eBay for You ,

They sell em at hoem cheapo in a few kelvins, i would get some befroe salina closes for good.
