I recently ordered a phone ( vintage rotary ) from a seller in The States. I have used this buying method for many items through Ebay for years, mainly lamps with success and tracking seemed to work okay giving where the item was step by step and the system worked with no problems. However this is not the case with my latest order....tracking was poor and did not give info where the item was and missed some days with no update, the time for this was much longer then my other items and does not end. I was given a tracking number for UK, plus a note on my email saying it had cleared customs but did not say what customs ( US or UK ) and with that Hermes tracking number was given a time and date 4/3/20 at 1.09, to date no further info given and I would say my parcel has been lost or my opinion stolen. I have put this in the hands of Ebay to investigate but this has left a bad taste in as much as there has been so little info and leads me to think it could be a scam. Telephoning Hermes was a waste of time as they did not put a human on and could not give me further info. My advice is be careful when ordering stuff and really check tracking....yes I have lost out this time, hopefully Ebay will remburse my out of pocket expense but still I have lost out on a vintage phone.

Hi Miguette Once it happened to me with a light bulb. The search number was not updated. It is best to use, pitney bones from eBay. The fact is that upon reaching customs, the process has not passed and the bulb has been returned to its seller. Then the money was returned. Contact eBay if you don't receive the item! Get in touch with the help chat. They always help me if something happens.

Hi thanks to your comments. I can say it arrived today through Hermes and taking the parcel realised something was not right as it was ratterling and an opening it found the innards were smashed and required much araldite to repair the crappy plastic construction. The carton had been treated as a football and was kicked about in my opinion, it is a great pity we have to put up with people with little or no brain. Ebay has been told and would expect a full refund of my money.....I have ordered another one and told the seller to really well pack so we wait and see. In my opinion the delay was because of this damage and it may of been done he in England.

The story ends here hopefully. The damage was too much and the phone was fit for the trash, they gave me a refund...big deal only for the price of the phone ignoring other expenses like customs and postage so I was still out of pocket, I will never trust Ebay again and yes this must be a scam to make money, also they give the seller as another person not who I bought it from I am not a happy bunny.

It happens going the other way too. Up until recently I had a ~50% destruction rate with items received from the UK.
