Bug Light Bulb Comparisons- GE, Sylvania, and Philips « on: November 28, 2017, 11:07:00 AM » Author: CEB1993
Each of the "Big 3" has there own version of the same product, a 60 watt incandescent Bug Light that is intended to illuminate outdoor areas without attracting annoying flying insects.  I have a picture of the three different makes below.  As you can see, each one emits a slightly different shade of light ranging from deep yellowish orange for the GE to pastel yellow for the Philips.  Which one do you think would attract the fewest bugs?

Interesting comparison. The Philips coating looks way too thin. The GE (having the least light in the blue spectrum) would probably attract the fewest bugs. Last time I used GE bug lights, though, I noticed their coating faded quite remarkably. I haven't tried a Sylvania bug light, though. Its coating might fade just as much.
