I was wondering what the odd names for types of lamps mean, I know XBO means a Xenon arc lamp, but what is MBFU?

This is what called "Lamp Nomenclature". Several countries and lighting companies adopted lamp nomenclature codes for lamp identification. MBFU is a british identification code for a MV lamp. M = Mercury, B = High pressure, F = Fluorescent, U = Universal burning position. The most famous lamp nomenclature system, is your country (USA) fluorescent identification system, which F = Fluorescent, XX = Watts/Inches, T = Tubular, and X or XX = Glass diameter in eigths of an inch, followed by slash and color code and any special feature.

Is there some chart I can refer to when I hear these terms being used? I also now know that MBU is clear MV.

I think `Troffer` was just a Thorn brand name?, GEC called it the `T-pack`, and Philips called theirs the `Powerslimmer`, generally their just known as 600x600 Mods, or 600x1200 if its the 4 foot.

Here, the troffers weren't available until the arrival of the energy saver krypton T8. They almost always came with two chokes of 40W T12/36W T8 and 4x18W T8, two lamps series with the chokes. Lately, the 4x14W T5 troffers appeared, but in the recent years, LED panels replaces their place.
