Feit Electric has a
unique LED retrofit for fluorescent lamps on the market. It is a ballast bypass model, but instead of wiring the existing sockets to the mains, the tube itself has a hardwired connection and merely uses the fluorescent sockets for support. This avoids the issues with shunted vs. non-shunted socket compatibility, and arguably simplifies installation. Do you think this design is safe? I'd be concerned that the cable leading to the tube is apt to get pinched, sliced, or tugged if not routed carefully.
