I'm looking for Narva Prisma CFLs or her photos « on: March 19, 2012, 03:31:19 PM » Author: Lampka
Hello
I'm looking for older and modern Narva Prisma magnetic CFLs.
If you know anything about these lamps, her production date and if you have photos about these CFLs, please give. I wonder if these CFLs were also manufactured by Philips or no. How did they looks in 90s or earlier?

Hello,

A few months ago I've found two Narva Prisma CFLs in the recycle bin (the shape was about like the phlips sl of the third generation). They were magnetically ballasted but the quality was very pour, nothing to do with the philips SL. The bowl was plastic and both lamps have the ballast burned: probably it was undersized, the lamps were 25W but they have a ballast smaller than a philips SL of 25W, the plastic bowl also don't help the heat dissipation.
I think that another member has posted a photo some time ago of a narva prisma. Unfortunaly I dont' have made any photo of the lamps.

...ok I see that you are the guy who have posted the narva prisma  ;)

My lamps externally was like yours, internally the ballast was on the bottom of the lamp and not between the tubes like in the philips SL. In yours lamps the ballast is also on the bottom?
Another curiosity was the starter that doesn't have any capacitor in parallel to the glowbottle.

In last (4th) generation of Philips SL, produced since 1998 to 2000, these lamps also had the ballast near the tube, in the plastic base (ballast on the bottom and not between the tubes).

Look this (ballast for Philips SL-Prismatic 17w):

They look similar to the Narva. Maybe these philips are better made and they don't overheat. The bowl is glass or plastic?

Philips models were better done but the ballast also were worse than in lasts generations. I found some of Philips models from this serie which had also worn out ballast.

When did you bought your Narva Prisma's?
How long were lighted and how looked burning the ballast?

Ok so the last philips model too have the ballast undersized...

I didn't bought the narva prisma. I've found them in the recycle bin for cfl from Ikea( but I didnt think that they were sold at Ikea) and they were already eol.
The ballast was a little brown and if I remember correctly it has the wire burned(in any case by checking with an ohmmeter it was an open circuit). Both filament of the tube were broken.

In recycling bin you can find many, many interesting lamps...
If you find more Narva Prisma CFLs, please save it because I am looking for it (even there are worn out) ;)

These Narva CFLs are popular in your country or not?
