F15T8 CW EOL blasted into the ground « on: May 06, 2011, 06:14:10 PM » Author: Powell
I have a few of these no name Chinese lamps and 3 of them now that have  never used, gave one to a friend for a life test (he is WAY more pedantic than I am on timing life). The one that failed today has been in use for 7 years so it had TENS of thousands of hours. It had made 2 teardrop shaped black spots in addition to the customary tan band on both ends. Then last week it started making 2 mmore teardrop shaped spots and one in the last 2 days started to really grow. This morning it lit as normal, but when I got back it was rectifying and starting to get black. SOOOOO.... I put it in my 15 lamp with the trigger start ballast thats as bright as any preheat. In no time it was getting really black with all kinds of colors and when it went to flickering I put it on my "solid state" ballast for F40T12 lamps and it lasted 20 minutes with a super show.  When it flung the filament off and it hit the glass it cracked it and it went SSSSS and went out. Yes I have pictures, yes I need to upload them, and I have dial up.

SIGH! No way to do a video on dial up. I live out in the SUPER boonies!   :o
I have 24K dial up.  I have some 40 watt bulbs in the room where my "office" is at the radio station and one fixture has 2 ACE bulbs that have LOTS of hours on them. When one of them goes it goes on the solid state ballast to see what it will do then.... heh heh heh!!
