I would love to know what light sources people here use in their Jack o lanterns. It would be interesting to know if people use electric AC light bulbs in their Jack o lanterns. Yesterday, I used a US 150w S55 HPS lamp in mine and it was able to bee seen from afar.

I didn’t carve a pumpkin this year, but usually I will put an incandescent lamp in it. I never use candles, as October is usually mid fire season in Southern California.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

I prefer a candle, I'm old fashioned that way, but I used a battery operated tea light this year.

I was going to one-up myself again this year and use a 1Kw HPS lamp, but due to pumpkin size, I could not use the lamp i wanted and instead, used a 400w HPS lamp, which worked fine, until it tipped over in the pumpkin and burned itself to the pumpkin.

I don't do jack-o-lanterns anymore, but when I used to do it, I put in a string of mini random-twinkle lights, which gave a really nice flicker effect.
I also put a strobelight in one year, which turned out pretty cool too.
