It's technically banned only for the regular mercury fill ones, manufacturing and import, reduced mercury eco friendly ones are still allowed but yeah incandescent is long gone.

For what it's worth , I just bought a case of Philips G8T5 germicidal tubes for my UV light in the furnace for $34 + shipping from a Colorado eBay seller . Funny thing is that they were shipped thru the USPS! For the price , I may just buy another case !

Interesting that they only banned the regular mercury dosed lamps. I thought those were banned earlier TBH, as every modern fluorescent lamps seems to be reduced mercury.

HID, LPS, and preheat fluorescents forever!!!!!!
|
Was in a Home Depot yesterday, and they had all their remaining fluorescent lamps marked down cheap. Looked through them & picked up a few daylight F8T5's but thats it.
Might go to another Home Depot today to get the boards I wanted(nothing but bent scrap in the shelf at the 1st store. .lol. ) Ofcourse I'll check the lights while there...
Here in California with a fluorescent ban already in effect, I also saw the remaining fluorescent lamps at Home Depot and Ace Hardware stores marked down for cheap prices. I was amazed to see that the Ace Hardware store I visited still had a decent supply of fluorescent lamps even after the ban, but oddly enough, replacement fluorescent ballasts and starters were still sold at normal prices though as I would have expected ballasts and starters to disappear from the shelves too. It seems like replacement ballasts might still be sold in order to run plug and play LED tubes intended to be retrofitted into fluorescent fixtures.

replacement fluorescent ballasts and starters were still sold at normal prices though Same here with ballasts at H.D. being sold at full price. Still had fluorescent fixtures too... but none of that stuff was banned here, it was just lamps.

For what it's worth , I just bought a case of Philips G8T5 germicidal tubes for my UV light in the furnace for $34 + shipping from a Colorado eBay seller . I believe those are exempt from the CO ban. Wouldn't need a whole case, but I should look & see if there are any singles on there cheap. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have a couple spares.

I just find it interesting that the Ace Hardware store that I visited still seems to have preheat fluorescent ballasts in stock despite the fluorescent lamp ban.

It's kind of interesting some of your hardware stores still have preheat ballasts and even magnetic ballasts still in stock. That stuff disappeared from most hardware stores here almost 10 years ago with only independent ones still having some old stock magnetic ballasts. The hardware stores still sell ballasts, but only a electronic 2 lamp T8, 4 lamp T8, and 2 lamp T12.

Tell me about it ! That's why I bought the entire case of 25 . With shipping + tax . They were around $2.10 ea. Since I use them 24/7 in my funace during the colder months , I figured it made more sense to just buy the case .
