Metal strip in fluorescent battery lantern « on: February 15, 2025, 03:09:52 AM » Author: LightsAreBright27
I found an old fluorescent battery lantern that used a normal osram 7w 4 pin pl lamp, but there was a wavy metal strip in the gap between the tube, connected to a wire going to the electronic ballast. What could this strip be used for?

Unfortunately no. I found the same one online, and the product image has the metal strip- https://indiamart.com/proddetail/7w-cfl-solar-lantern-17791772591.html
Sorry I couldn't find it in Amazon or ebay, they removed all general use fluorescents.

I've seen here picture of Chinese members of 2-pin PL-S lamps that have a capacitor instead of a glow starter in their bases, and that they are for use with two wires electronic ballasts.
If this the case also with this lantern, so probably the metal strip is a starting assistant.
