That is incredibly bright! and the beam is very focused. I wonder if the person who made this video got in trouble for pointing the light at a building. I never knew xenon flashlights existed.

Wow, I always thought it'd be neat to build one using the automotive xenon (MH) lamps since they run on 12vdc but this is taking it to the next level.

 The one in the video looks to me made with one of those Xenon short-arc lamps .  Bombs as I call them !

very impressive, (I do really want a nice big XBO/XBO type lamp some day for the collection) But I think you need to show them who's boss with a torch built using your 18Kw HMI lamp 


on a more "serious" note taking my 1000W CID lamp outside or at least pointing it out the window is something I very much want to do, as even standalone without any fixture/additional optics they have a very tight beam and I am very curious to see how far the throw is

its just the control gear is almost literally back breaking heavy LOL

I am half tempted to get one of those Hydroponic Electronic ballasts to make things portable, but the 2 that I already have I notice have high frequency outputs so I am not sure how kindly a CID lamp might take to that? (last thing I'd want to do is explode it by resonance, as much fun as that might be to observe an external viewer!)
