How much mercury is in a PL lamp? « on: August 03, 2022, 05:14:12 PM » Author: Burrito
About 8/15/21, i broke one of those quad tube plug in CFL's in a fixture of mine. Do you know how much mercury is in one of those CFL types?

Thanks!

Also it's best clean up the fragments quickly, put them in a sealed bag, then dispose of them.  If left out in the open, additional mercury may evaporate over time.  I've seen some people here hold onto the remnants of broken lamps, which isn't the best idea if you're concerned about mercury exposure.

As far as I know, PL lamps have about the same mercury content as CFL of the same size. In the case of tri-color lamps, the mercury content ranges from 1.5 to 3.5 mg. But if the CFL is broken, it is best to clean it up as soon as possible.
