Oh my goodness, today, i did an expirement outside, putting my 400w MH in a socket that had NO ballast. it exploded!

I got a picture of the explosion. when i did this everything was set up very safe, so when i got the pic it did no harm to me.



I might have to buy a new lamp...

Whoa! I think MH is pretty dangerous in my opinion. I rarely run my 250W MH lamp even on the proper ballast for fear of explosion. It's a good thing that's you're fine though. Lamps can always be replaced. 

Been a day, i think it has been long enough, even thougn not many replies.

DOnt worry, no explosion happened. its a setup! i took a pic of snow, over my m250r2. HPS really makes snow look like an explosion! a clear bucket of snow, took a closeup, and made a trick.

Even though, Jace and Dave didnt even get fooled xD

Well, I guessed the picture wasn't from a MH explosion but I thought you actually had a MH explode on you when you were testing it though. It was kind of odd to me that you didn't have a shot of the bulb post explosion though. Now I know why

I was waiting for the pic of the exploded MH as your pic didn't resemble a blown lamp.Unless you had a explosion with fire LOL . Man your getting tricky like our famous gullster!

I have had a 1000 watt MH explode when I droped it  glass shot 20 feet away I was unharmed.
BTW it was a brand new lamp
