Wire recommendations for HID fixture rewire « on: March 19, 2021, 08:27:54 PM » Author: High Intensity
I'm working on fixing up an older HID fixture I recently got (I think it's an ITT yard lite), and when I took it apart to clean it, I noticed that some of the old wiring was falling apart.

Anyway, I figured out the old wiring it rated for 125C, and when looking for something similar online I found a lot of silicone wire like this that claims to be rated for +200C. Now my 201SA uses wire similar to this stuff, but after looking a bit more, I found this XLPE wire that appears to be identical to what the fixture I'm rewiring used.

I'm open to recommendations, should I use either of the two I listed above, or should I use something that I have not mentioned here.

I've used some electric oven repair kit wiring with success in HID fixtures. Unfortunately, they almost all come pre cut in lengths of no more than about 24".

Wire from Junked stove or from Electric HVAC equipment
Works out also.

I have a large roll of #14 SEW wire rated for 200C that I use on my lights. Found the partial roll at a Restore a few years ago.

@sol: I cannot find any kits online that includes a decent amount of wire (most kits I found seem to only come with a few inches).

@funkybulb: I currently don't have access to that kind of stuff, at least until May, but I want to get it fixed sooner (it does seem like a decent (and possibly the cheapest) option).

@joseph_125: I can't seem to find a lot about this stuff, but I'm guessing it's a type of fiberglass insulated wire, I can't find anyone selling it, but I did come across SRML wire which appears to be similar and therefore could be used for rewiring.
