PSMH bulb going out after startup then starting again? « on: March 08, 2021, 04:39:06 PM » Author: lightinglover8902
When I was seeing a 100w PSMH lamp in a recessed can light, it started up but then goes out. After a few minutes, it started up. Could this mean that the lamp is heading EOL?

I have seen MH cycle, but it's usually just HPS for some reason, does anyone know why?

HPS lamp voltage rises during life, while MH lamp voltage remains constant.

Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 220-240V, 50hz country.

HPS lamp voltage rises during life, while MH lamp voltage remains constant.

This is not always true, it depends on the fill composition and dosing, to what extend the fill components responsible for the arc voltage are operating at unsaturated vs saturated pressure.
Definitely the arctube gets hotter as the lamp ages. If saturated behavior dominates, the lamp then behaves very similar to HPS.
E.g. ceramic operate still quite big liquid salt pool, rhose components for sure operate at saturated vapor (still dunno how far these influence the arc voltage).
