Lighting disaster came to portland safeways « on: January 06, 2021, 05:35:11 AM » Author: derek anthony
this is only happening with the lifestyle remodeled stores, the stores have the center store fixtures with the louvers over the aisles which are the wellmade model 172 fixtures and I went into one of our safeways and I found that all of the louvers have been removed and probably discarded which made the store look cheap and tacky, the fixtures are still fluorescent though , plus the way the fixtures are designed it made the aisles blinding without the louvers to diffuse the light, so far this has only happened to two of the safeways here and the rest still have the louvers on the fixtures
Here is a link to the fixture https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.wlmd.com/pdf/172.PDF&ved=2ahUKEwjErb6Fj4fuAhVbJTQIHcc-DK4QFjABegQIEBAH&usg=AOvVaw0Fj2GcQ-sNqFPubyNovFwV

A few Safeways in my area did get renovated recently, and while they did not remove the louvers on the aisle fixtures, they did retrofit them to LED and replaced every other fixture with LED Troffers (including the MH spotlights, as seen here).

Of roughly a dozen stores in my area, only about 3 of them have not been renovated or retrofitted to LED.
