Lots of GE M-1000s with glareshields on the I-10 in Los Angeles, California, USA « on: December 09, 2020, 10:34:09 PM » Author: fluorescent lover 40
Take a look here. A lot of them are on double guy poles.

Scroll around on this stretch of the freeway and the other nearby stretches before January 2017. (GE Evolve ERS2 LEDs were installed in 2017 replacing most if not all the HPS and mercury cobraheads)

Very cool! Also, looks like there was a fire or something nearby when this photo was taken for Google? The sky looks brown.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

Actually, most of the cobraheads on the double guy poles were 1960s GE M400s, but some of them did have 1960s GE M1000s from time to time. In addition, some portions of the east LA interchange actually had a handful of M1000 lanterns with glareshields and there was a M1000 with no glareshield on the onramp that transitions from the 5 freeway northbound to the 10 freeway eastbound.

Here is the location of the M1000 without the glareshield on the East LA interchange that I was talking about:

Here is a portion of the 10 freeway that had a M1000 lantern on a double guy pole surrounded by mostly M400 lanterns:

In addition, note the remote ballasted Westy OV25 with a glareshield along this stretch of the 10 freeway.

That M1000 on the bridge, weird isn't it? Originally had a top headed OV20.

I imagine that the M1000 was put in place to increase light levels.
