HID, LPS, and preheat fluorescents forever!!!!!!
|
Does anyone regret not stocking up on certain lamps as a result of them being discontinued? I feel that I may have to feel this way because I am really wanting to stock up on several types of European T8 tubes before they get banned in 2023, but there does not seem to be enough space for me to store them all unless I get my own workshop and storage shed.

Not so much stocking up but I do wish I got a example of the following. Unfortunately they were both fairly niche items that not a lot of places stocked.
EYE Moonpulse MV lamps, preferably a clear one that was for a M98 ballast but I'll probably take any I encounter for a reasonable price.
VU-1 ESL lamp, they were fairly interesting as they worked similarly to a CRT. Anyway they were also fairly niche as I believe only Lowe's USA sold them.
Philips L-prize LED, again these were only available in the US. They're probably the most common on the bunch.
F90T17/F40T17 fluorescent - they were pretty much unobtainium in Canada even before they were officially discountinued. At the time I believe they were going for around $20-30 per lamp.

I don’t really stock up on anything, but I regret not buying the early generations of A19 LEDs when they were still available. There are so many examples I could name (such as the Philips L•Prize) but passed up on, simply because I was younger and didn’t care that much.

For me it should be older 80s LPS in NOS condition on ebay, it was years ago and I regrets not getting them on time. This week I've lost the only one I've got and still couldn't get over it lol It wouldn't hurt as much if I have spares.

I'm really regretting not getting some LPS stuff a few years ago when you didn't have to sell a kidney if you wanted so much as a lamp.

The first one I got is from BLT direct from UK, A 55W lamp, a BSX355, an ignitor and a capacitor which enough to put me on a dialysis
And that's like twelve years ago man that the 55W already cost as much as $40/pc not including the shipping fee, it's actually a lot worse for me because I'm living in a country where the currency is weak

Can you please tell me why you keep adding GIFs to your posts.? They can mean different things to different people, so they send a conflicting message. Personally I find them very distracting. Edit: Thank you.

At least some T12. And I hope my "stash" of 4 FC6T9 will last me "forever" to be used in my bedroom dimmable ceiling light (based on this concept). The first one, after being tortured heavily with many experiments, lastet there about 2 years (and ended up by the filament physically breaking), the second one serves there daily till today, although it is already quite grayed out.

I am probably one of the more lucky ones and for the most part rapidly collect lamps. I have a few stones left unturned though. I need 100, and 150 watt HPS burner lamps and some more 100W MV medium base lamps. and I want some more spare colored F20s.
for collection purposes, maybe a white SON or two, and some of those really high wattage ceramic metal halides, so I can put them in my 1000 watt fixture and see what they look like. and maybe an old pip top Edison lamp?
I'd love one of those 50kw HPS lamps. however I feel like that's more of a pipe dream. but I'd totally build a whole fixture for that beast with an extremely polished and focused reflector. I'd most likely mount it onto a swivel on the back of a truck or trailer like the old WW2 era air raid lights.
